Tredegar's October Half Term Fun
Youngsters in Tredegar enjoyed free half term activities
arranged by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. The activities
included sports, book reading and arts and crafts all put on at
Tredegar Leisure Centre by the Trust's Game On Wales team with help
from Tredegar Town Council, Communities First, GAVO, Hedfan, Tai
Calon Community Housing and Gwent Police.

An Election is to be held of a Community Councillor for Tredegar
Central & West Community Ward. All nomination papers must be
hand delivered to the Returning Officer at the Civic Centre, Ebbw

The Circuit of Wales
As part of the recent community consultation being held this
month, Mr Paul Shackson came along to our Council meeting to give
Members a brief update on the progress of the Track. Further

Coalfields Regeneration Trust
Grants and Funding Sessions are being held between 10am and 2pm
on Monday 29th September 2014 at Aneurin Bevan House, Castle
Street, Tredegar then Monday 13th October 2014 at The Met, Mitre

SHED BREAK INS
Recently there have been a number of shed and garage breaks in
our community. Residents are reminded to be vigilant and
report any suspicious activity or incidents to the police by
calling 01633 838111 or 101. Here are some handy hints and tips to
•Always lock windows and doors.
•Consider fitting an outside light.
•Fit an alarm to deter thieves.
•Fit a good lock, bolted through the door and reinforced at the
back with a steel plate. The hasp and hinges should have concealed
or tamper proof screws.
•Use a 'closed shackle' padlock, made of hardened steel and at
least 2.5 inches in width, with no less than five pins. (BS EN
•Windows in sheds/garages should be covered with curtains, a
sheet or boarding to avoid thieves seeing your valuables.
•If going away on holiday, consider moving items of high value
inside your house.

As the Summer nears many of us will soon be thinking about
having a Summer holiday. While you're away it is good to have peace
of mind about your home safety. To provide this, Tredegar Crime
Prevention Panel have come up with the great idea of a Home Safe
For just a £5 donation, they will install a temporary alarm for
the duration of your holiday. Should any intruder enter your home,
the auto dialer will call three numbers of your choice. The kit is
professionally installed by local Police officers or the Crime
Prevention Unit. The system is available at any time, it is great
for things like holidays but may also be useful for hospital stays
or other occasions when your are away from home for a time. For

Summer Concerts in Tredegar Bandstand
Band Concert season is here again and once more Tredegar Town
Council will be holding these musical extravaganza in the Bandstand
at Bedwellty House and Park, Tredegar but if rains tries to stop
play the music will be performed in the Carriage House, Bedwellty
House so there is no damping of our musical spirits!
Concerts will be held between 3pm and 5pm on these dates:-
Sunday 1st June 2014 - Rogerstone Band
Sunday 8th June 2014 - Lewis Merthyr Band
Sunday 15th June 2014 - Thomas Coaches Mid-Rhondda
Sunday 22nd June 2014 - Newport Borough Brass Band
Sunday 29th June 2014 will be Tredegar's Armed Forces Day,
Bedwellty Park - music and various activities
Sunday 6th July 2014 - Ebbw Valley Brass Band
Sunday 13th July 2014 - Gwent and Powys Army Cadet Force
So come along and spend a lovely Sunday afternoon listening to
beautiful music in the glorious setting of Bedwellty Park.
Events are FREE and refreshments can be purchased from the Orchid
House cafe located in Bedwellty House.

Change Step is a peer mentoring and advice service for military
veterans and others with post-traumatic stress disorder. Further

St John's Ambulance Tredegar Branch - Open for new
Tredegar St John's has been a long standing institution in
Tredegar and it is a valuable asset to our local community. They
have for many, many years supported local events and trained their
students to a high calibre which they continue to do today. The
Tredegar Branch is located on The Promenade, Tredegar and is open
to anyone - adults/childrens - who wishes to learn these essential
life skills. If you are interested in joining please pop along for

The Cinnamon Trust - Volunteer Appeal
The Cinnamon Trust is a national charity for the elderly and
terminally ill and their pets. They seek to keep owner and pet
together for as long as possible with the help of a national
network of volunteers who assist when day to day care poses a
problem. Their aim is to relieve the owners of any worry concerning
the welfare of their pets both during and after their own lifetime
making them unique amongst charities. They are currently urgently
looking for dog walking volunteers to help residents of Abertysswg.
All volunteers help in the ways that are most appropriate to them.
Teams take it in turns to visit housebound owners, take dogs for
daily walks, volunteers foster pets as one of their family when

Caerphilly County Citizens Advice Bureau - Children with
Disabilities Project in Blaenau Gwent
Caerphilly County CAB are funded to provide advice to families who
have a child under 18 with additional needs, in order to maximise
